Was reading about the chemical reaction rocket diff a scientist , (USA 1950s) invented for drag racing.

A tycoon wanted a fast car so ordered a muscle car, uprated to a 490ci? and a rocket diff ......I'll find the article, damn scary.

They had a demo car a beetle with it , went so fast on the 1/4 it got airborne over 130mph and wrecked it in a fiery heap....

They used the wreck as an ad campaign, ahh the good Olde days!

@Ex850R they were wild!

Performance specs look fairly underwhelming

The maximum power available was 95 bhp (71 kW; 96 PS),[4] with 76 available for continuous use.[4] It had a drag coefficient of 0.23.[3] With the vehicle weighing approximately 1,580 kg (3,483 lb)[3][4] more than a conventional Volvo 850, acceleration from 0-60 mph (97 km/h) took 23 seconds in EV mode and 12.5 seconds with the turbine engaged.[5] Top speed was 109 mph (175 km/h). The vehicle's range on batteries alone was 90 mi (145 km), and when combined with a full tank of fuel for the turbine, about 415 mi (668 km).[6]

These guys covered it to. What an insane set up
