The T6 is by far the most addictive motor , , stick the gear lever to the left/sport mode and it goes hard, learns your style , use it as manual shift and more fun, a later T6 will have paddle shifters too.
Give it an intercooler, downpipe and panel filter with a TDI TUNING BOX or Hilton tune and it becomes an epic drive.
Pushes front so bigger rear Sway Bar and links etc from HARDRACE, maybe roll centre correctors on front too (Mondeo gear is same) Not a go cart but fun anyway.
T5 motor is afaik fragile when tuned and never as much owner so easily as the T6 is.
Usual components that fail in ageing cars but that's any car.
Later T6 had sorted the oil consumption that can happen pre 201 , my 2011 V60T6 didn't do it till over 200,000 KLM. Maybe midway to low on the hatching on dipstick each week with 80 KLM roundtrip every weekday. Doesn't worry me. They like to smoke after drifting along , coming to stop and taking off, that's where the oil goes, rest of time no smoke. I think it's hit and miss too, mine a worse one. I want a bigger , higher easy to get into vehicle for back and knee pain but will keep this, max out the modification and have fun!
