If I turn the high beams on they do work, but it feels like low beams compared to my other 240. I'll double check the fuses but they seemed ok.
One the switch behind the steering wheel the only position that turns the lights on is the middle one with P= on it. That turns low beams and markers on at the same time. The other positions do nothing.
These symptoms make me suspect 2 things - [1] that the wiring at the headlight plug is incorrect; and [2] that the headlight is getting its ground from somewhere it's not supposed to.
Here are the wiring diagrams from the YM85 240 wiring Greenbook for the headlights (non-US version). I haven't checked the YM88 wiring diagram to see if the colour codes are the same, but I can't take screenshots from anything on the 240 USB stick, so this old YM85 PDF will have to do.
On Low beam, you should see volts on the BLue wire (at the headlight plug).
On High beam, you should see volts on the Red wire.
Black (SB) should have a good ground.
Closeup of wiring detail for the headlight relay, the light switch, and the headlight flasher on the indicator stalk.
Note the BLue wire from terminal [56b] at the headlight relay goes to terminal [6] of the bulb warning sensor - then two blue wires from it, at terminals [2] and [7], provide the low beam power feed to the headlight plug.
Note also that high beam isn't connected to the bulb warning sensor.
Next: the parking light / DRL circuit.
