It’s been a minute since I’ve posted. The past few months I’ve mostly been waiting for parts, things should start finally coming together now.
Replaced the lifters, repainted the rocker cover while it was off. Cleaned up the spark plug cover ready for paint and cleaned up the fuel rail cover. Going to try and polish it to match the polished RIP kit.
Bought a new TD04HL-18t with 7cm angle flange, safe to say there may be a slight improvement in flow ? it already has a 3” DP so looking forward to it being utilised to it’s full potential! Didn’t realise it would be so hard to find a 3” flange in stainless. Found one from Yother in the US, hopefully the turbo will be in by the time it arrives so it can be towed to the exhaust shop.
Fitted the Forge CBV that I was going to fit to the stock turbo to the new 18t. The ‘C’ shapes don’t exactly line up at the back, didn’t come with any instructions, does anyone know if this is the correct orientation? I just fitted it in the same orientation as the stock CBV. I’m assuming it doesn’t matter as long as there is some overlap? Unfortunately I didn’t get any photos of the back part of it.
do88 intercooler arrived and was fitted yesterday without a hitch. Shame it can’t be seen sandwiched between the radiator and AC condenser, looks really nice.
I bought some self-closing braided wire to replace the horrible corrugated stuff that has probably never been replaced. Started with something relatively easy, sensor wiring to the injectors as they were badly corroded and horribly oily. The heat shrink tape I bought was way too thick, I used Nitto tape which doesn’t look too bad. Will see how it holds up.
Still plenty to be done - install Japanifold and 18t, new throttle cable, wideband sensor and gauge, Snabb intake and do88 RIP kit. Other not so urgent things on my list are to install delrin subframe bushings and new sunroof seal. I also bought a fire extinguisher and bracket that I plan on installing onto the front passenger seat rails. Has anyone done this before?
