I thought I was up for new shockers and after looking at the prices I know why they call them shockers $$$.
In fact I had thrown a wheel weight so after ROTATING LHF slightly worn tyre with a perfect wheel and new Mitchelin just balanced and fitted , I thought I had serious issues .
In fact the weights were all wrong and once fixed no more vibrations .Front wheel drive in a large car is new to me so I fear every sound and creak.I t seems very good balance is most important !

Yup, amazing how many tyre shops can't balance well and just keep adding weights rather than thinking. A good balance should give you the baseline you need to diagnose the creaks and clunks.

Till I went on a long trip recently I didn't pick up some minor issues .
The mechanic who balanced the tyre the next day after fitting said it's not much out but it was out a lot .
Same tyre shop new Michelin and I checked the rim before the tyre was fitted and it was perfect (thanks Volrek).
So even the best tyres are useless with out a proper seating and balance .
The V70t is great for long trips and 7.8 litres per 100k is ok loaded up .With a BSR chip the front wheel drive just copes .
Most of the creaks and vibrations were from me and my old bones .It took several attempts for the cardioligists to get my heart right so why should I complain about a wheel balance needing two attempts .
