Chasing a yatour or grom mp3/aux for the SC series stereos, if someone has a spare laying around.
Yatour or grom aux for s/v/c70
I'm not sure if one is better than the other. I have a Yatour one but it's for Alpine M-Bus (as I'll use an aftermarket Alpine head unit). I havent used it yet so can't make comment on the audio quality out of it.
Yatour wasn't great on my V70 std system.
I'd get an external DAC (Creative Sound Blaster have brilliant ones at good price) hook phone or iPod via cable or Bluetooth and plug the DAC into the amp directly.
The DAC and phone combined vary the volume and equaliser in phone or boost switch on DAC.
An external DAC is brilliant quality compared to a Yatour.

That's a super good idea. The main downside would be losing the central speaker (since it's driven by Hu) and the 6 disc changer functionality ( lose this from yatour anyway).
Maybe I'll do that and place a switcher on the input rcas so I can have both.
I have wired an aux port from sc 816 before (placed the 3.5mm port where seat heater button is on some cars) . I know the sc901 is very different internally so finding tape output may be harder. Also it is janky with some phones/MP3 players.
If there is a cheap yatour going I'll try that first since I have eq in sc901 and it keeps it stockish but good. If I upgrade, I think it'd be better to just go full new Hu and swap to a dsp amp (more expensive but will allow time delay, full eq etc.)
