I did what Snoopy said for the 144. Measured the width and, importantly, how bent around the front is, and checked out the local country wreckers. I found one - I think it was a Hilux- that was very close. A bit of work with a cutting disk, make up some mounting brackets and you’d think it was made for the car.
I used to have (may still do) one from a 244 that I cut and welded to fit the 144 shape. It had been made from an alloy (I.e. early) 244 front bar that someone had welded some alloy pipe and bar onto it to turn it into a bull bar. If you search ‘John and Jeff do Sydney London 2014’ on Facebook, you’ll find photos showing it. Maybe something like that is an option.
