  • Wanted: 1990 240 Dash cluster

After a complete dash cluster for lh2.4. 89-93 1990 preferrable.

I MAY Have one...would need to know the number on the face of the speedometer and I’m not sure the condition of it. What do you need it for (to replace a faulty one or ??) Lemme know. If you’re replacing a faulty one, a pic of the back with terminals etc would be useful as I have 2 or 3 of the electronic speedometer ones but not sure exactly how to tell the LH2.2 from the LH2.4...if memory serves me there’s an added female spade terminal between the speedometer and fuel/temp gauges near the bottom to plug the LH2.4 ECU speed sensor wire into, but I’m a bit hazy on that.

Hi Greg, I’ve been chasing down high idle and enrichment condition for so long and finally came to the conclusion that my Speedo is buggered or wrong. LH2.4 needs a speed signal for idling and off throttle idle compensation etc.

Possibly the IC chip in the speedo itself is buggered. the needle jumps around a bit when I’m rolling forward less than 20km/h and It has always read 15km faster than what I’m actually going.

Pin 34 on ECU should see 12V on ignition but I’m seeing 10.5 and when driving up to approx 60kmh it shows a voltage drop down to 8.5-9V. Apparently it should be around 6-7V when travelling over 10km/h? At least that’s what I take from this:

ive also got the wrong front glass on my cluster as the dash lights are all for an early k-jet model! That’s my fault though, I swapped it out before I knew much about these cars.

Will pull it out and get a photo of the back of cluster today. Speedo number on front is K6091.

Managed to find an old image from when I replaced front glass and speedo gear. It is quite possible I have the wrong year gauge cluster.

Here's a good comparative of an lh2.2 vs 2.4 I pulled from another thread. Mine looks a little more like 1987 cluster? Hmmmm

Hmm, I’ll have to look at the ones I have. I thought that 235 terminal (separate female spade terminal) was the ECU speed signal...turns out it’s for the check engine light...hmmm...

a month later

great info, my '88 dash needs a good refurb/repalcement as well, I just got a parts dash from Berry Motors, maybe they might be able to help you as well, you will need the numbers from the speedo to get the right one (above the VDO label). I learned a few things from Graham there.

cheers

Still on the lookout if anyone has any leads?

Just looked at my spare ones and they all look like the 87 pic, not the 1990 pic - just going by the route of that grey ribbon cable.
