Time for a minor update. We’ve just ticked over 7000 km in the car, and average efficiency is at 21.4 kWh/100 km. Not great, but not terrible! :) Just took a trip down to Anglesea with Wayne, Penny (dog) and Wayne’s mum for a 40day get-away and did some driving on the Great Ocean Road again. Free overnight charging at our accommodation (charge cable reached in through one of the bedroom windows from the carport!) Plenty of solar panels on the roof of the accommodation.
Had a few minor glitches with infotainment system: “Hey Google” stopped responding for a while, and maps kept trying to take us back to Wayne’s mum’s place, even after cancelling nav a few times and upon re-entering the car it came back up again…hmm. Also had the usual drop-outs of connectivity, which can be frustrating as sometimes it means you can’t even control the heat with Google voice commands. Hopefully Volvo is working to resolve all this as the Android Automotive Operating System is now across the board on the new Volvos from MY2023. There’s another over-the-air software update coming soon…we’ll see if it fixes a few more issues than it creates! :)
On the way home we diverted via Geelong to show Wayne’s mum the Eastern Beach area. We drove past the EV chargers nearby and spotted a Hyundai Ioniq 5 charging next to a Tesla Model 3. There are heaps of Model 3s on the roads these days (well, not heaps, but if U drive from Daylesford to Melbourne you’ll usually see at least 10 on the return trip (7 of which will be white!) Saw a couple 240 wagons down in Anglesea which was a bonus! :)
That’s Wayne above in pic…
