I have a couple 164s here with BW35...not sure whether it’s a straight swap. Free for the taking BUT you would need to rock up and remove from the car...located Daylesford VIC.

I have a BW 55 available.

Removed it last weekend. Was in a '78 244.

Apart from a different bellhousing and a different tail housing ratio either should fit.

B30 bellhousings don't fit a B20/B21/B230 at the engine end. Also, the B30 torque converter is bigger.

The transmission face end of the bell however is the same IIRC, and should still bolt up to the B20 bell via 6 bolts. B21/B23 bell for the BW35 is similar to the B20 BW35 bell, but the OHC bells mount the trans at an angle and use metric bolts.

PS & ETA: The BW55 bellhousing is different to the BW35 bell.

BW35-->BW35, possibly. If not, the internals will be. BW55-->BW35, probably not.

I have a BW35 out of a 75 240, but just waiting to take out to do a manual conversion. How soon did you need one?
