A genuine Volvo bracket that will be on so many cars with a few modifications and job is done.
Sign me up lol looks good
Thought I'd change the title , rather than clog up other threads
So who has actually done or had the conversion done ?
Pros cons ?
Parts needed ?
@VolvoMike Is there room for a bigger turbo and what manifold are you using.
Would the td04hl have a different position? The exhaust housing is externally bigger? I think?
As it's a factory mount, it will fit all factory manifolds and turbos including a K24 from an S60R. The exhaust housing isn't an issue as the mount doesn't go past the compressor housing. I am going to perform the conversion over the next week or two on a factory 850 manual to confirm parts required for the job.
Nice looking bracket and spacers, very tidy
Sounds like Mike is the man and the go to for M66 conversion parts?
A comparison of the 5 and 6 speed boxes based on 6000 RPM gear changes. The S60R runs the same ratios as the XR5 but with a slightly taller 3.77 final drive.
5th and 6th in the 6 speed are the same as 4th and 5th in the 5 speed so top end and highway cruising remain unchanged. The problem with the 5 speed is 2nd - 3rd is too big which the 6 speed rectified and keeps you more in the power and torque range across all gears.
Thanks for all the trouble your going to Michael
The M66 appears to hold the revs during each gear change much smoother as you say, producing a better curve.
Alot of people prefer 5 speed on a boosted engine. And 6 on NA.
Some m56 came with 3.7 and 3.5 also.
Are you installing an lsd while the box is out?

If you've had an 850 turbo on a track I'm sure you'd change your mind. Even a spirited drive through some twisty roads exposes the ratio problems.
I'll be fitting a gripper differential to mine but there are much cheaper LSD options. I won't be fitting the gripper before test fitting and driving it in my NA 20 valve.
Yea I have an 850r m59. I find the ratios great.
If you get a chance when you pop in the lsd could you please measure the width of the gears?
What's the part number of the rear mount you used?
And for a drool...
