2005 S40 2.4i @ 207,000km . I aquiered the car at 203,000km with no knowledge of its history.
I experienced an engine warning light 2 days back which turned out to be a DTC P0172 error. I was unable to clear it at first but figured it could be an error comming from the injector, MAF or O2 sensors. Put a dose of injector cleaner into the tank and after around 1 hour of running I was able to clear the error code and it has not returned.
My next 'preventative' step is to fit new plugs (no idea how old the existing are) remove and clean all 5 injectors and the upstream O2 sensor in carb cleaner in an ultrasonic bath. I have a new fuel rail sensor on order and that will go in at the same time. Just in case its a vacume leak I also have on order the snake like vacume hose that goes from the PCV to the manifold.
Should I replace the injector 'O' rings or not??
With luck the error will remain 'off' till I am ready to do the above.
