Leave it as a relic or remove it (radios were options in those days)
Then put a BT/DAB+/DAC unit somewhere and either a USB stick or iPod as stored content or a small tablet set up however you want to access content.
A phone can be Spotify or whatever.
An amp or two with DAC hooked in (an external DAC from Creative Sound Blaster is brilliant) improves any streamed music a great deal and some nice splits (midrange in upper front door, tweeters on dash ends ) and small hidden sub plus maybe 6x9 or 6x7 in back to fill rear out.
A tablet can have grapichic eq to fill the cabin with corrected levels via an application and a cheap USB mic .
Sounds complex but not once set up. You can even get wireless steering wheel controls hooked in. All the major brands do them.
If you have a playlist of favourite songs you don't need the screen really and HU screens are pretty hopeless for info anyway.
