Transmission leak was still occurring from between the block and transmission.
So I bought an engine/trans support beam and got to work.

Took a bunch of pics as things were coming apart, but mostly not that interesting.
I was following the instructions in the Hayes manual for the how to.
If anyone else is doing this, I'd suggest to just drop the whole subframe.
While the trans can come out with it dropped on the LH side, I couldnt work out how I was going to get it back in.

Got the trans out with less hassle than I expected.
It was just my Wife and I and she keeps saying she's got no idea, but she's more skilled than she knows.

From here I decided that pulling the subframe was the best way forward.
There wasnt much required to get it out and it was going to make life easier later.

As you can see there is now lots of room in there.

While the frame was out it gave me a good opportunity to have a look at it and see if there was anything wrong.
Found a split in the front, so decided to replace it while it was out.

Had a good look at the trans and the torque converter and didnt really find anything wrong.
There didnt appear to be any cracks in the torque converter, while the inside of the bell housing was a little damp.

However with the trans out I could peek through a hold in the flex plate to inspect the block.
It didnt look pretty.

So I pulled the flex plate to get a better look.

I cleaned up the hold punched in the block and patched it with some 2 part epoxy.

Crankworx was on one of the weekends this was happening, so we dragged the TV outside and scrubbed the transmission til it was shiny.

As I couldn't find anything obviously wrong with the trans or the torque converter I figured I'd just replace the input and output seals on the trans and hope for the best.
I've seen some people have issues with getting the trans back in.
We either got lucky or its not that hard?

I can see the local KFC in the gap BTW the front tyre and the guard! Cut the spring? I may have some real lower ones tho....

^Pics in the driveway do look a bit high, the wheels hadn't settled at this point.
I'm not interested in lowering Fringle as it means she'll compromise her main purpose.

Back to the on going story,
She stayed with the trans back in, but un assembled for too long.
I was waiting on a replacement Sub Frame that took longer to arrive than I wanted.
As a result I decided screw it, I'll stick with the existing sub frame as I was annoyed with how long she was off the road.
The old frame was a bit dirty, so figured I'd clean it off.

From there it wasnt too much effort to get everything back together.
Biggest issue was the steering rack re-locating back into place.

replaced a wheel bearing and my tie rod ends while everything was apart.

Finally at the end of a long day and putting everything back together (Good Friday) I had a no start issue.
As the battery had been out of a few weeks i thought maybe it had gone flat, as when the key was turned there no cranking, but only clicking.
Left the battery on charge over night to find the same issue in the morning,
Maybe the starter is stuffed ?
Got in underneath and was a little horrified at what I found.

Turns out the main power feed from the battery wasn't attached at the starter and was rubbing against it!
How this didn't cause any serious issues is beyond me, but I'm glad it didn't

Next was to get her started, warm and see if there was going to be a trans leak !
Alignment was out.
Seriously out.
There was a significant amount of toe out with the tie rods screwed into the same point on the steering rack.
So I adjusted it as best I could.
Didn't make it out of the driveway before I realised there was something seriously wrong.
The scrubbing down the drive was so bad that it cleaned the concrete.

Back up on stands I quickly realised what I'd done wrong.
I'd installed the tie rod ends upside down into the steering knuckle !

So after that was sorted I finally got back on the road !
No leaks !!
Unless you count the coolant from the crappy after market tank cap.
Went back to old genuine and she's not leaked again !

And the next day she was back to doing what she does best.
Transporting bikes !!

New presents for Fringle arrived early last week.
Roof mounted bike carriers/racks !
Now I can move bikes and still get in the back.
