Oh , nice one! I like an 850 T5 , they seem to go harder than later v70s , if they go I guess! Maybe James's T5 motor into it if he wrecks it? What's the hg...

I finally got around to replacing my odometer gears.
Pulling off the dash was far less of a hassle than I'd expected.
My biggest issue is the clips that go into the glove box.
One has been mashed and is always a pain to get out.

The gear was totally stripped.

While the dash was out I replaced the lamps with LEDs

Previous to this I had installed a dropping resistor for the boost gauge back light.
It was dimmer, but the voltage was too low for the blue back light LED and I was left with only red.
Reading a red needle on a red black ground is less than ideal.
So I built a PWM (pulse width modulator) to dim the LED back light.

Now the boost gauge is no longer blinding and the dash is readable (picture doesnt really show it)

Now I have to get to the bottom of an oiling issue.
I've got an oil leak somewhere.
The back of the block is very wet.
She's burning oil too.

It's gotten to the point where taking more than a 15min trip becomes a nauseating experience.
She's still inflating a glove from the oil filler after a full PCV service.
I'm going to try and replace the oil squirter gaskets, as I've heard they can leak, and as thats where the leak is, it kinda makes sense...

I've got a replacement motor in the works....

MMM , the squirter gaskets , i too believe i have that issue although for the rattle in the top end i get when sitting for a bit idleing. Mike says soak the cams etc in diesel for that issue. But have heard it is a fun job doing those gaskets , undoing motor mounts and lifting it up to clear the space under the oil pan to pull it and get access , look it up.

the nice thing about it is that it also works in conjunction with the regular dimmer as that's just a voltage divider pot :)

I'll bring you a 555 if you'd like one

Nah I have no immediate plans for use, just curious to see the schematic - I didn't realise you could build a PWM circuit so easily!

oh yeah, not hard at all.
but the 555 doesnt have much in the way of power handling, so if you want to drive something more beefy you'll need something to handle that.

Dis is mai Wagon. :-B Really, should be Erik's wagon...but he doesn't have a license.
Her final "paint" or "look" is possibly sourced. It's been kept under wraps for a while. It involves many 8s, 5s, and 0s.

And, i got distracted by something and forgot why I was going to comment about Fringle.

I think you'll find they have just used the wrong symbol.

Got a bit of a backlog to clear out....
Fringle was having an oil consumption / burning issue.
Was never dropping any oil, but the oil fumes in the cabin after she was warm were getting out of hand.
From my inspection it looked like the gaskets around the oil squirters were leaking, so I cleaned them up and replaced them.
