PaddlerEd Motorway fleet car it made perfect sense - CO2 was tiny (so I think VED was only about £100 when it was new and BIK was equally low), and it had such a high 6th gear it was just trolling along. But real world, it was crap...
Jamest5r_ lasercowboy How could anyone put an engine as small as 1.6L in a car that heavy? This makes literally no sense to me.Because $3.00 per litre fuel cost, Volvo like every other manufacturer run their mpg figures in controlled rolling road conditions and claims that can never be met in reality but sell car's, probably claiming 40mpg combined or something stupid but it sells car's, and considering 50% of it's time will be spent in traffic it won't burn much ?
AshDVS All of that confirms for me that I still like it for its weirdness but I do not want to own it.
Ex850R lasercowboy Yes, the three-legged unicorn has rather lost its appeal!I'm sure the owner realised that it lost its appeal when they paid full rego and that the fuel cost was much less here and that they were beaten at traffic lights , consecutive traffic lights , by a guy on a push bike........
jrc This engine may also be compromised by Aus diesel standards vs the higher spec Uk fuel. 240 Nm is better than the non turbo petrol 125 kw 2.5 volvo engine and 80 kw better than most 145s so maybe not totally dreadful. but if I were after this grey beast I would be confirming exact fuel type it needs, if there is a diesel catalyst or filter likely some time and the fuel system as these can be fairly pricey - I do note the d4164 is written up as efi diesel so maybe not so pricey. I don’t think there would be too many of this engine in Australia
jrc Noted - thank you - There’s one (c30)on car sales tooactually I was impressed by the numbers on that engine - 270Nm torque so as long as it’s same spec as the c30 Its probsbly a good buy definitely more torque than my 1971 145 had and that got along just fine
