I dont really think that they wear out faster, it's more than their grip deteriorates more quickly, some bridgestone models more than others.
eg. RE050A provides really good grip levels right down to the tread wear indicators, whereas the RE003 is quite good until you've got about 70% tread left and at that point they're not great and you'll find the limit of them much quicker than you think you should.
The S001 is interesting too as it's supposed to be a 'premium' bridgestone offering but mine seemed to really fall off with about 50% treadwear left.
The Michelin Pilot Sport 4 has a fairly boring tread pattern but offers grip until nearly worn out. If you've got 19" wheels, you can get the 4S which is supposed to be better again.
The Pilot Sport Cup 2 is very good as well but dont last long at all. Not sure if you can get them in sub-19" sizes. Worth a look though.
I've got Michelin Pilot Sport 4 on my wheels for the V70, in 225 40 18. I had them on the Focus XR5 in 235 40 18 and really liked them so bought them again. Pricing was decent and Michelin had a $100 cashback promo.
