No worries and pity ... The body is generally the same with the early V70 cars. . I'm still going to wreck an 850 at some point when I get the time. I was hopeful for some Volvo time now, but investment property repair and renovation has swallowed my break. I actually forget if they are hard to remove, do you know if everything Under the dash comes first? I seem to recall some funny process where the instruments is removed, then a few screws and the whole thing just lifts up? That would make it easy to retrieve.
850 dash pad

Couple screws above the clocks , then take centre vents out screws in there , side screws by the doors then glovebox out and I think 2 bolts and disconnect the airbag then it lifts out .
Pretty sure they're all torx screws
So, I took the dash out of the 850 and it is cracked into half a dozen pieces around the airbag mounting location - too much weight hanging off the thin plastic? The airbag side is detatched as parts from the main large section of the dash, which is still a largely intact as one piece. I can take a few images if your interested, however I'd say it's not that much better than yours . It may be a better start if you are wanting to do a fiberglass skin. I gee the feeling that this part is a bit of a timebomb for all 850 owners.
It seems to be a common issue with the plastics on these hey . Unfortunately I need the plastics to be intact .
Here's a screenshot shot of mine from page one

Cracks , splits and parts missing .
@1971_144GL thanks for the offer but as you say from your description your one sounds gone as well .
Bump for an 850 dash pad.
No cracks in the plastic underneath please. The top , colour unimportant and conditions unimportant as will be re-trimed in suede. Posted to WA .
Mark has a 855R to wreck, get in quick for door cards and good seats, unsure about dash. Interior not to bad generally, glovebox destroyed as probably stuck closed as they do.....
(Change or modify the lock before it does fail as destroying it seems to be only way to open.....)

I put single sided adhesive 10mm x 6mm sponge on the dash frame after I super glued and reinforced the flimsy black plastic frame.
Dash is quiet as now and dash top dosnt rub on frame at hard contact points
