Hi Neal and welcome! I have one in very rough shape that I will happily part with for scrap value. @Spac has a nicer one that will require some assembly but is a much better place to start and does not has rust. I will try and track down his for sale thread and post it here.

There it is, looks good in person and assembly is not such a daunting thing on a 1 series, well laid out and pretty simple/straightforward cars.

I hope you buy Spacs its a great starting block that one.

Thanks guys for the leads, if I can sort out some space to put a car back together may go for the brown one, but I am in North Sydney so may not be an affordable option, something running or nearly running in one pice that can a fix as I go is my holy grail.

It could probably get back together or mostly together with a solid weekends work so conceivably we could put it together at Spacs and then trailer to yours and have mostly complete to tweak and get perfect.

Well I have found a registered 1970 142 de luxe. It's cream with a blue interior, reasonably tidy- drives well. It's a single carb - manual - the guy I got it from had it for a few years bringing it over from WA where he bought it from the original owners deceased estate. It was originally delivered to a lady connected to the Australian Embassy in Paris through the Volvo european delivery schem - it was delivered rhd .Have complete service and delivery details from new! Including a volvo accessories brochure in French. Passenger door has had a knock and been DIY repaired will fix it properly along with a few other nicks as I think as the car seems to deserve it. will post some pics if I can figure out how. I May change it to twin carb some time but having found all the books in the glovebox am thinking I should respect the originality of the car.Steering is very heavy at parking any fixes for this I thinks its worse than standard! How easy it to add power steering!

You can also get electric power steering conversion kits if you are mad keen.

I think the electric steering was $2500 when I asked for my old 245 , skinnier front tyres....

Hi the pictures of the 142 are here posted - thank you to the mercurial picturing posting skills egads! Liking it a lot though may put in a 164 hydraulic clutch to save wear on my wonky knee in Sydney traffic, anyone got a good white/cream passenger door out there, the side you can't see got a ding and a scrap in its' previous ownership. I shall try to be more careful.

That's the one... well done Neal! it looks nicer in these photos that the ones that were list with the sale. I will keep an eye open for a white door for you. Did he have work done to the front window sill?

Yes it has had some repairs and was fully rego'd when I got it, not a bargain, but I felt fair for a running car delivered to me as well. I took the sun visor and rear louvres off it if anyone wants them let me know - not my thing but I know a lot of people like them
