I’ve got a 2001 V70 XC and as soon as I bought it (only recently) I noticed oil pooling on top of engine and running down behind timing belt cover.
I replaced the oil filler cap as the old one had a very dry seal and shrunken. Since I replaced it it stopped leaking. However just the last couple of days it’s happened again.
the oil filler cap is on right, the only issue I see is the o ring seal is very loose and moves around - now I’m assuming it’s that but also just wandering what else can cause it?
I’ve done the PCV test with the glove and it’s not inflating it’s actually starting to get sucked in, no smoke out of exhaust or oil dipstick so assume the PCV is ok?
Does the o ring on the filler cap need to be moving around that much or should it be stuck more to the cap? And is there anything else I need to check?
the only thing I did recently was topped up the oil using 10W-40 to slow a cam seal leak until I get that fixed.
