Hi, I am about to be the new owner of a 2009 C30 T5.

I would like to place an order, probably with FCP, for common parts that fail so I have them available locally.

Question for the brains trust. What fails?

Is it a good idea to have local stock or can I get parts locally without waiting for overseas delivery?

Thoughts so far include:-

Fuel pressure sensor

Ignition coil

Oil filters seem to be half price from overseas

Other ideas?

Regards

David

Look at Volvo parts prices here too as they cut spares prices in half.

Have a look at when the timing belt, aux belt, idlers/pulleys, water pump were done (if ever).

Coolant reservoir is a common failure point so probably one of those unless evidence of recent replacement.

Suspension components depending on kms. Plenty of info on OzVolvo about what wears out if you have a search.

Definitely the coolant reservoir and CTS.

Front suspension bushes, particularly the very soft lower control arm rear bush (replace with poly if you want to upgrade), engine mounts (use upgraded lower rear mount from a 2011 C30 T5 R-design, or E-Focus one (firmer) as the original was too soft. Brake parts? Braided SS brake hoses if you want to upgrade?

@Ex850R interesting to hear about the local dealer pricing. May have to look into it but I dread ringing the dealer...do I just ask for parts dept then give them part numbers and they'll quote me a price? Will they get Genuine Classic Parts in as well? I just figured they would say bugger off for the older cars, however I did get a couple 240 windscreens from the dealer about 10 years ago (that's my last contact with the dealer in OZ)

Ask Mark, he keeps reminding me that they cut the prices , maybe order through him he has contact at a dealer

    Thanks for the idea's.

Definetely ordering all the timing belt parts, water pump etc.

I will have a good look at reservoir and probably add to my list and CTS I had not heard of so will add as well.

I know I need the shift blind for the auto so got that on list.

I think most of the suspension parts should be fairly easy to get locally as shared with Mazda / Ford. Will be upgrading quite a few anyway over time.

Just didn't want to get stuck in 6 months waiting for parts from overseas.

Sounds like I need to chat to local volvo dealer and see what parts/ prices are like.

Call Mark at Berry Motor Group.

Get new coolant reservoir no matter what, it's a notorious failure.

'eFocus' lower torque mount is actually available locally as an MB Mondeo mount, it can be sourced as a Ford genuine part.
