Roinik 940 takes the Commondore box. The EA-AU V8 box is for the 240. This is deu to the shifter location.
Um, no no no nein nein nein.
940 doesn't take the Commodore box unless you want to remove the ashtray.
EA-EL box extension housing is too short for an ideal 700/900 fit but will work fine in a 240.
AU box extension housing length is ideal for the 940 (23.8 inches from transmission face to centre line of the shifter. AU boxes have p/n 0557-066906 in the extension housings.
The BA box is 24.5 inches in that dimension, so 18mm further rearward.
However, you need to take into account the thickness of the adapter plate, which is typically 18mm.
Also, a BA box may not have one of these.
The BA Turbo box I got didn't have an bearing retainer like in the pic above; the input shaft was held in the gearbox by the bellhousing, and the preloading shims were in the bellhousing. See pic below.
So if the BA V8 setup is like the BA Turbo's, you'll need an input shaft retainer and a shim set.
(EDIT: wrote a bunch of stuff, deleted it and wrote different stuff)
When you remove the input shaft, do a tooth count. Then if you're using the DeeWorks / Yoshifab adapter plate, you'll need one or the other of these to fit it in 940:
The 1352-085-050 Input shaft is 23 Tooth, 9 1/4" Overall Length, WC Tapered Pocket Bearing, 10-spline.
The 1352-085-060 Input shaft is 24 Tooth, 9 1/4" Overall Length, WC Tapered Pocket Bearing, 10-spline.
(I forget if the BA V8 had a 3.35 1st, or a 2.95 1st)
In brief: BA V8 box should fit okay IMO in a 940, just that the shifter will be 18mm further back than factory or if you'd used the AU box.
