Just remember a car with more miles under its belt (especially a Volvo) (and especially an old Volvo) will be in better shape, having done more trips (longer trips) more servicing, less rust due to sitting idle, it is all relative
Of course it is up to the owner and the mechanic, in any case, to maintain any vehicle as he sees fit, or by the book, some being better at it than others
I always believe the car with more miles in better condition is better than one with lower miles in worse condition
Old Volvo's (especially) really do live forever
