  • [CLOSED] Looking for a 1988 and onwards 240, 740, or 940 wagon

I'm searching for a wagon to do a B230FK swap. My 940 was recently written off in a crash and I'm trying to find a "new" wagon. It doesn't need to have a working motor or transmission. Please let me know if you have or know of anything. Thanks

What happened in 1988 which makes you not want something older?

Yeah, would prefer not to deal with wire harness issues...

That's not to say that you won't have wiring harness issues on a 1988 or later model

BUT the earlier ones failed earlier.

Still, I can make a brand new harness for any 240, plug and play never have wiring problems again

from what I understand, 1988 240s onwards have the LH 2.4 wire harness... which involves a lot less hassle when doing a swap with a 1995 B230FK. Looks like all I need to do is move the distributor and do a bit of tweaking of the exhaust etc....

1989 onwards was when LH 2.4 system was used

If you buy a 940, they are all LH 2.4

Not really, I do but it's something I'd like to restore first. It's a 1996 turbo 7 seater with the genuine roof racks

That’s exactly what I had and was written off last week. Sure I can’t tempt you?

Make me an offer that I won't want to refuse

You're too late. Bought a very clean 93 940 wagon for a VERY nice price this evening.... still a few bargains out there.

Ahhh shoot, I went to sleep early last night, I'm more of a morning bird

Well I guess all's well that ends well, you get a car and I get to keep a car

Welcome to Club 93 - I've also got a 940 wagon.... errr, well, two, actually - one turbo, one not. And others.

If you're pulling bits out of your 96 to go into your 93, there are a lot of running changes, including -

fuel pump - singe in-tank in 96; internal lift pump and external main pump in 93instrument cluster wiring and plugssome wiring colour codes changed

The 93 model turbos - sold in OZ as the 940SE - aren't like the US 940SE versions, which were actually 960 bodies with B230FT engines. The Australian models had heated leather seats, electric mirrors, and the ACC climate control system. They also have a boost pressure gauge in the tacho which the later FK 'comfort engine' cars didn't get.
