HI Guys,
Just picked up a relatively low k (120km) 2006/7 XC70, I love the car so far aside from a couple of issue I am able to fix my self.
I noticed after driving the car for around 40mins, or until the trans gets up to temp its will occasionally shift hard from 1-2 and 2-1, its not terrible but its not smooth as it is when its cold. Additionally once up to temp it also clunks when going from D-R and R-D.
From some extensive readying online I hear these can be commonage issues, there is so much information out that its a little overwhelming in what path to go down. (valve body, TCM Flash. New tranny etc)
It is worth mentioning at the last service it had a trans oil flush, this was just done by a local mechanic...
From what I can tell the Volvo hasn't been serviced at a Volvo dealer for a long time, so I don't believe it will of had the latest software update, so my initial though is to take it to a dealer where they will update the software and hope reset the TCM learning? after a quick call to Volvo they say they will need to do a minor service in order to update software that will cost $800
So what are your thoughts? I would prefer to take it to a Volvo specialist that can give it a once over and update the software with the VIDA and offer their professional option on the subject with them hopefully have had to deal with similar issues in the past.
if there is a band aid fix for the tranny, that would be good also...
I'm located in Artarmon so any mechanic recommendations that should be able to help with the above would be appreciated.
Thanks for the help, Much apprrieacted
