Ever seen a 780 in Australia?
OldnDecrepit
No, but I'd buy one if I could (gold of course!)

I've never seen one or heard of one being here any time recently, however I have heard rumours that one was brought here for a motor show, then shipped out again, presumably to be shown elsewhere in the world.
They were made in LHD only, but converting one to RHD by cutting the centre section of the firewall out of a regular RHD 700 and grafting it in wouldn't be as difficult as it sounds, I have considered it/dreamed about it.
Philia_Bear
Conversion would be totally doable...
My main thought would be 960/S90 dash/firewall conversion
Vee_Que
I have two 760 dashes for the job and front end soon even. Problem is the dash clips break as they come out!
OldnDecrepit
Were there any 780 that went to the UK?
Vee_Que
Not as RHD no. They were never made RHD...
Angus242164
I reckon broken dashboard clips would be among the least of your worries, when trying to get a 780 into the country, converted to RHD, engineered and registered. :P
PaddlerEd
They're Old enough that you could run it LHD without converting it.
There's a couple of 780's in the UK that came from mainland Europe as personal imports, but they're all LHD.
Vee_Que
No need to convert anyway for an 88'
Rob
I want one. I would definitely convert it to RHD.... just cause.
OldnDecrepit
Hmm, time to check the USA websites for 780s methinks.

why bother doing a conversion. would they not fit under the club plates, and not need to bother with a conversion?
Vee_Que
Post 87 import rules are still funny vs club plates. Getting it in the country is more the issue :p
Angus242164
It should be possible to get a good one in the US for less than a quarter of that price, with a B230FT/AW71. That one says two litre, it might have a B204GT.
Having driven a few LHD cars on Australian roads, it's a bit scary, I think I'd convert it if I planned to use it with any sort of regularity.
Rob
i really can't see it being that big a deal to convert it.
Vee_Que
7 series firewall shape is fixed compared to a 2 series where you just swap a panel over.

i dont mind driving LHD, got the chance to have the first 300c hemi for a weekend when it was doing its rounds to many of the dealer ships.
grabbing the gear shifter was the hardest to get used to.
