Thanks that ones ok although been sitting for many years! Would prefer one that’s been cared for regularly

Apparently they rust a lot more easily than other variants due to the body being made by Italians and no doubt using USSR steel........

So , you should look at any you find for sale no matter what you think about presentation and ascertain if the example is solid in the body which will be the biggest expense.

If its a little tatty it is nothing compred to a good looking one that is a rusty junker underneath that could well determine that the car may be only good for scrap.

Its happened before with a guy who may not be here but was on a local Facebook group.

He percivered and spent a great deal of cash getting the rust fixed.

I was once getting an Alfasud registered and the guy checked the firewall and told of a Ferrari that came in to the rego branch with a rusted out firewall they thought they could get past them by virtue of it being a Ferrari......it failed....Italian/USSR steel......

Iv read a few articles, only 12 knowingly left in oz. You could be the one to care for it regularly....

Thanks folks, unfortunately been there 30 years ago. Did all the work and then unfortunately had to pass it on!

now have opportunity to revisit.

yes rust issues def need to be aware.

thanks for your help

I think there is quite a few more than 12 left, just hiding in sheds yet to see the light of day again! Hopefully the new classic car scheme coming in WA this year will help to revive more!

Look on the VOcV site, Volvo club , they have registers run by individuals who look after each model that will tell you how many and perhaps contact them as they will know who has one for sale, put a wanted ad on their site.

Also contact Mark Iceton at Berry Motor Group as he is president of the club and at the shop he works at sees so many cars and is offered the ones the old people just give him to put to good use.

Definitely more than 12, between Lance and I we found about 35 I think. I have 4 of them. Not many are coming onto the market anymore though.

Do you have any more info on that car? I have one that was restored a long time ago that I've been trying to work out the history on.

Mine was a WA car, had books and history. Rust removed (not much) full repaint and engine rebuild. New badges. Black window tint. Fitted sheepskin covers from Prestige sheepskin with cotton lining to protect seats. Had the large rectangular headlights. I did have the chassis number somewhere. Will let you know if I find the list.

Interesting, this has had a full respray, black tint, there are sheep skin covers in the boot, badges are missing, I don't know the history of the engine but it runs very well.

Also check if the sheep skins had a cotton lined backing on them
