The backstory -I've been chasing another P80 850/S70/V70 for a few months now and, with thanks to @iceton1975, I've managed to buy a 1997 V70T5 fro...

I got one rear trim like that from late V70 , also a rear spoiler with the newer mount brackets , all gone now, it's funny , nobody wanted stuff like that when I had three wagons for parts in driveway!

If I had the brackets still I'd make replicas .....

I do think I chucked em in the bin one house move.......

It's always the way. The stuff I've thrown away over the years during 'clean ups' is amazing - it is either stuff that I really wish I had now or would have some value. Not much you can do but laugh and move on.

I DID enjoy throwing it out too , very cathartic , still lots more here of other than car stuff too....

I get the same and her family chime in at times too till I point out she has a collection of the children's "stuffs" from 0 to high school. (Take a fucking photo and chuckit , even her sister said that..)

Stuffs she was storing for a sister who lives in Kunanara northern WA. She doesn't want it back , road transport to that location would cost a lot....

So it seems I don't have a problem , she deflects anyone noticing her flaws by scapegoat me.....

I've had some wins of late but no new pics (yet).

Front brakes are here and waiting to go on but they'll require new wheels to go on at the same time, which I dont want to do until it gets bodywork done and comes back (I'd cry if a new wheel came back with overspray or a scuff/scrape on it).

I managed to get hold of a late, 'chunky' style V70R steering wheel from a 1999/2000 car, so thats away getting refurbed as well and I'll fit that in and do the dash swap at the same time.

I am struggling though to juggle getting to get bodywork organised and theres more than a few tasks queued up behind that so I'll need to progress that soon.

My freshly trimmed wheel has arrived back from being done. This time, rather than opting for 'DVS teal' stitching, I had it done in silver to go with the monochromatic theme I've got going on.

To break it up a little, I had a yellow centering stripe added, in leather, at 12 oclock.

I used Royal Steering Wheels in the UK again - they did my last V70 and my Focus as well.

I bought the wheel via UK ebay and had the seller send directly to them. From them receiving the wheel to my getting it back was about two weeks (maybe just under).

That's really why I went back to them - this is the third one they've done for me now.

Great people, excellent service and I've always been happy with the outcome.

I think I've made comment around this before, but every now and then I re-evaluate various aftermarket brands (particularly where we've not had positive experiences before) with a view to observing any improvements in quality and then potentially adding them into our offerings at DVS.

With that in mind, I replaced the rather manky looking coolant reservoir and cap with an aftermarket alternative a little while back.

Fast forward a bit and I have a leak out of the new reservoir (old manky one was fine, just ugly), without even being pressurised.

So, up next is to replace this and both hoses (with new genuine volvo) before it goes out for paint which is hopefully in the next couple of weeks.

Needless to say, you wont be able to buy a non-genuine coolant reservoir for a P80 (pre '99) from DVS any time soon.

You could simulate the use by blocking hoses on bench and pressure test it , Stick it in an old electric frypan with water to get temps. R&D,QA!!

No need, its just crappy quality and has a split in the bottom.

Swapped out for a new Genuine Volvo reservoir, cap and both hoses and we're good to go again and I can drive it to the panel beaters so that they can have a look this week.

I spent a little bit of time this weekend slowly getting ready for it to get painted.

It'll go for paint with the rear bumper, skirts, roof rails, roof spoiler, mudflaps and grille removed.

First up, they'll paint the roof, bonnet (including A pillars) and quarters. Once it's back, I'll send the new bumpers, front guards and skirts all out to get painted separately, off the car.

I had removed the roof spoiler previously as @DCW242 was chasing one, so today I just removed the rear bar and grille.

Wheel bolts for it arrived (finally) last week so I fitted up one of the rear wheels with the finalised tyres today too. Rear wheels are Koya SF05 18x8 and ET36. Fronts are the same, but ET42. Michelin Pilot Sport 4 all round in 225 40 18.

Rear suspension is all already in the car and I'm super happy with the fitment -

Fingers crossed, it can go out for paint in the next couple of weeks, once things calm down here in VIC a bit more.
