The backstory -I've been chasing another P80 850/S70/V70 for a few months now and, with thanks to @iceton1975, I've managed to buy a 1997 V70T5 fro...

Could, though I re-made the Focus boot 'carpet' in Palight rather than carpet as I couldnt find a reasonable boot carpet for it.
Palight is textured, light and pretty durable but probably not suited to the size of the V70 cargo area. I did think about it though.
We're about to trade our 2013 Nissan XTrail in on a replacement Mumtrux and when we ordered it new, we had it delivered with a plastic cargo area liner. If this is bigger than the cargo area of the V70, I'll keep it when we trade it in and simply trim it to fit the V70.

My V60 came with a handy liner with high sides , low at door but when I drop the seats it's a pain as hard to fit it forward and although the 6" high lip squashes it's an effort putting big stuff in, I was happy to find I could fit two armchairs in! Door open a bit but it's got the Volvo space you didn't know you had about it!

Picked up the V70 from KJF late this afternoon too. Really happy with their work and great to deal with. The Roof lining looks great. Now I've got to fit the light grey (rather than biege) sun visors and grab handles from the parts car and get all the other charcoal plastic bits back in place.

Headed from there to the panel beaters but they were closed so I'll get a few more things done before the bodywork now as I'm trying to get as much space back as I can as I plan to spread out a bit while working through brakes (which isnt too far off).

With a bit more time between now and bodywork, I can think some more about putting bonnet pins (leftover aerocatch pins from the Focus) in it before it goes out for paint.

Got the drivers side A pillar trim in now and the plastic trim above the RR door - the roof lining colour is amazingly close to these, so looks really good.

I fitted the drivers side sun visor as well and used the light grey one from the parts car (rather than the biege one out of this car) and, despite the colour contrast, it looks really good.

Ooooh, like it, I want to change mine to black after driving the V60 Polestar a while ago, it looks so much better in black to match the Alcantara bits in the P* .

It was $400 to have done.

I stripped all the plastics out beforehand which probably made it a little cheaper but the car is a sunroof car which added some complexity and, no doubt, made it more expensive than a non-sunroof car.

There's no doubt I could have done it cheaper, but there's no chance I could have done it as good.

They had it for three days but I did stress I wasn't in a hurry. No doubt they could turn it around faster. I assume they just fitted it in around more urgent stuff.

Non-related, if anyone is looking for a cargo liner/plastic boot floor cover, I give you the following.....

T31 Nissan XTrail. 2007-2013.

It's not perfect, but it is pretty good I think. I'll have another look at it again when there is rear interior back in the car. This one came out of my wife's 2013 XTrail and is a genuine cargo liner which we'd ordered when we bought the car new. The XTrail has been traded in and it's replacement arrives in a couple of weeks. I'll be sure to keep the cargo liner when we hand the keys over.

I had one in my 850T5 many years ago and I think I agree with you here. I'd also reckon you've got a much higher chance of finding a cheap XTrail one than a cheap 850/V70 one.

Dog/Kids, same/same. The sides are pretty high and as our kiddos spend a heap of time at the beach, it regularly gets full of sand, you tip it out and hose it once in a while and you're good to go.

So, I'm hoping for some enlightenment here.

I've got a 850/V70 charcoal tailgate trim. Interestingly, it doesn't have the cut-out for the handle, so my assumption here is that 7 seat cars have the interior tailgate handle while 5 seat cars do not. However, if I am honest, I cant remember from the previous 850T5 wagon and other V70s I've had.

I like it better without, it looks neater.

My question is though....

What is the cut-out for in the charcoal tailgate trim above? (the biege one that come out of my car is below for reference).

In the steel pressing of the tailgate, there is an indentation and two square holes for some sort of clip to go into, but I have no idea what is supposed to go here.

Non-related to all that, our trusty 2013 XTrail Mumtrux got traded in on Friday of last week, so I've got myself a cargo liner for the V70!

Weird. My v70s are both charcoal interior, one with a 3 Rd row and the other without. Both have the interior handle cutout and no second lower cutout.....

and yours is an 850 too, so I guess that rules out 850 vs V70 differences or 5 vs 7 seat differences.

I wonder if no panel handle = base cut out, and that had a small finger bit to swing it down with?

That seems fairly plausible.

I could make a little fill in to go in the cut out and use rivnuts to fasten it into the tailgate sheetmetal.
