Current(ish) pic -

The backstory -

I've been chasing another P80 850/S70/V70 for a few months now and, with thanks to @iceton1975, I've managed to buy a 1997 V70T5 from its second owner.

See - https://ozvolvo.org/discussion/12978/wtb-p80-v70t5#latest

It's in decent shape, needs paint on the top surfaces and the typical P80 front suspension overhaul.

I pick it up tomorrow and will put it aside for a little while as I need to get a few other things done and make some space before I can sink my teeth into it properly.

It's good to have another Volvo around again and I plan to keep this one for myself rather than having a specific purpose/requirement for it.

The last one I had was nearly five years ago!

See - https://ozvolvo.org/discussion/2801/dvs-superrattyt5-1998-v70t5/p1 (I think I'll dig out some of the original pics here and fix the broken image links).

Since the last one, I've had a little Focus XR5 project happening, but it's time to wrap that up as it's served it's purpose.

The green V70 T5 we had is the only car I genuinely miss and regret selling. I wouldn't buy it back again but I do miss it.

Sad to see the vocus go....

Definitely, though I just don't want to keep two projects around.

For the amount I use it as well, having something on club reg (1997 models will be eligible in 2022) makes sense.

    Valid point

Picked it up this afternoon, visited my parents for my Mums birthday, and just got home.

Did a bit over 100kms of driving in it and it's pretty much as expected. :)

Pics or it didn't happen ?

The first pic was taken in South Melbourne, where it had been in storage. The following though are after getting it home on 23/12.

I haven't washed it or even had a good look at it yet but will start on it in some way in the next few weeks.

Always liked black on a car , something about it . Bugger to keep clean but looks good when it is ?

Aside from the top surfaces (roof and bonnet mostly), the rest of the paint appears ok so far.

I'll give it a wash when I return from our mini-break and have a better look.

I need to remove some of the parts I want to to keep from the Focus and find a new home for that first before I drag the V70 into the shed.

Kool. It'll be in the next month or so.

I need to swap standard wheels back onto it, swap the stock plenum back on and get a few small jobs done.

What r u doing with the current wheels n plenum ?

Going to see if I can get the wheels on the V70.

18x8.5 ET40 might be snug though, so not completely against them going with the Focus.

One of my customers might want the plenum.

Looking good Ash. I do like the darker colours on the V70, I have a 97 T5 in silver but black looks way nicer. I look forward to reading future updates and hopefully get some ideas and borrow some inspiration from you lol ?

I'd expect ET40 8.5 with a 235 will be too wide in the front for the S40 but a 225 should be ok on the same rim.

I'll keep you in the loop regarding the plenum if my customer doesn't want it.

I love the look of the wheels but might end up getting a set of Koyas if I can't get these to work.

Worst case, I have a set of Volans I could refurb and use.
