Hi All,
I posted a little while ago about acquiring an 850R wagon from a long-time friend, and seeking some advice – thanks everyone for putting me in touch with the various Melbourne based gurus, and no doubt the continued help along the way! I thought I’d document the ‘freshening up’...
Headlines are:
• Turquoise over light beige/suede, birch wood
• Manual
• ~235k kms
• Original as far as I can see apart from the HU. Rear spoiler MIA.
• Needs a freshen up consistent with its age
• Some parts are on the way from IPD – CV boots, brake hoses, bump stops and some other minor items. Brembo front rotors (thank you Black Friday sale) – may look at upgrading down the track but getting the car on the road is #1 for now. 2x new Continentals have also been put on, and alternator fixed under warranty.
Next steps:
• With a known history (last owner 10+ yrs), the ‘Stage 0’ isn’t too bad – belt and water pump done mid-last year at GLT in Qld. RWC inspection wasn’t atrocious so with the above parts she should be right for registration soon.
• Replace or fix old, broken or missing parts – Spoiler, centre console (thanks Mark), arm rest, handbrake handle, various plastics, retrim steering wheel
• Dashboard / dash top rattle - not looking forward to this... WTB: dash top
• Clearcoat failure - Respray roof and bonnet, dent repair, replacement front bumper, spray skirts and rear bar
• Big, big detail – interior, exterior and engine bay
When it arrived vs first wash
WTB:
Centre console arm rest (light beige),
leather handbrake handle (light beige),
D/S A-pillar trim,
Middle-centre stack section of birch wood trim
Non-curbed Volans
