As I rebuild the 850 I've been having fuel leaks when parked nose first up hill in driveway with a full tank of fuel and finally today sorted out where from.
Went to servo today @30C, took the car back to mechanics (it was in for new drive shafts/seals, oils/filters for engine & auto) and using hoist simulated the car parked at an up hill angle in driveway.
At first nothing showed up, while scratching our heads wondering why not, eventually a leak showed up around the fuel pumps locking ring but it only happens when car is parked at an up hill angle.
When I first got the car I replaced pump with a new Bosch one as it wouldn't start.
Note bottom of photo, fuel pushing past fuel pump locking cap .
I'm going to replace both seals for pump and sender, see photo.
Part numbers from what I can make out are:
Fuel pump seal 9447141.
Fuel sender seal 9447142.
Any advice here gratefully accepted.
Is there anyone in Australia with these in stock, thanks in advance.
Car is coming along very nicely after sitting around for 9yrs and am enjoying the time spent as I am well into my '60s, drives and handles very well.
Only thing I havnt rebuilt yet is the motor and gearbox which are amazing considering its at 207,000klms
