Just got my XC90 2013 D5 only done 74K KM, Cobalt Blue R Design , we use it as a second car and plan to do long trips on it towing a small trailer.
I though the lower kilometers would ensure a reliable car...but the gear box died in a terrible way only a week after taking possession. The dealer fix it as it was under the yard warranty. So I have a re-built gearbox and the car is driving very nicely. The gearbox comes with a 40 thousand KM warranty or 2 years (fingers crossed) .
To my surprise the angle gear seemed to be leaking. I was freaking out as they are not cheap to re-seal. So I decided to jack up the car, looked around , the prop shaft seal was in really good nick, the drive shaft seal was also in good nick...WTF is going on. Must be the main seal... I though maybe something is loose.
Looked at the refill plug and it was loose, unscrewed it with my fingers...WTF... got a 13mm wrench and tigthen the plug...
Leak gone. I figured that the boys that fixed the gearbox might have refilled the angle gear, forgot to tighten the plug...
Here is to years of happy driving....
