Has anyone found a way of getting the oil filter off without lifting the car on a 240.

If you have buggered engine mounts you can jack up the engine and get it off from the top but if you are jacking that it would be better just to jack the crossmember and support appropriately and get under and take off.
Or if you have a small ish hand and are flexible you might just be able to reach through from the top without jacking.

I think I see a consensus. For an engine bay that has otherwise so much space it seems a rather odd omission but anyway I'll have to buy myself a good trolley jack.

Good trolley jack and jack stands are a very solid investment.

I can't think of any car that you don't need to lift to do an oil change and oil filter change too. ..

On a stock height 240 you can with a long bar and a long arm you can do the oil drain.

But needs the stock highness

Vee Que. My last car was a first generation MX5. That could have the filter removed and oil changed without lifting the car. Before that on a Mercedes 280E.

I wish i fitted neatly in an mx5.

The mx5 I've worked on was hot and easier to lift to do the job. Also lowered... getting the 7l drain tray under it mostly.

Well I do have long arms and yes it was a struggle getting the drain plug undone but doable.

I dont understand the question. Reach into engine bay, undo oil filter. Job done.

I always found the oil filter pretty easy to remove...drain plug is another matter...
