There is a black one on Gumtree atm .
You would think Brock would have had one in the day , you never know. Someone would have that history , is Sokko on here??
AshDVS
Despite rarity of black, I'm keen on a yellow one - you can get a black 850R or S70/V70, but the yellow screams 'T5R' and was certainly a definitive point for european performance sedans/wagons of the era.

Thanks Snoopy. Assume Parkes is over east somewhere in which case too far to drive.
I have a few Commodore mates who are in denial about the Volvo/Brock connection. I was going to put "BRICK05" custom plates on it but they said it would start a riot.
I will see if I can update a few pics above also.
cheers Mark
Ben
Will it taste like banana if I lick it? *drool*
markc88
New Brake and Tyre set up
The tyres (PZero Corsa) have made biggest difference so far on how it drives. I need to do some tidying up of the inner guards and calipers..
markc88
It looks like a banana. Not a hard car to find in a car park
AshDVS
Looking good.
How do you find the 302mm brakes vs the 280mm ones?
In the last pic, is the boot open or do you still need to tweak gaps?
markc88
Hi Ash
I need to take it back to get all the gaps done and yeh the boot is a bit off. Needs a couple of other bits as tweeked as well.
brakes. To be honest I never gave the original ones a proper nudge and i shouldnt say this but the 302's just look better...!
I do a few private track days up at barbagello and im keen to run the t5 there when its finished. Ipd had a 330mm porsche kit but i thought it was a bit of overkill. Ill probably regret not going that way at about the 4th corner. The car generally needs more attention before ill run it also. One of the reasons I bought it was for a cheaper track day car but the way things have gone it aint cheap anymore.
are you the suspension guy i think snoop mentioned earlier in this post?
cheers Mark
AshDVS
Kool, looks fantastic regardless of the little odds and ends that you're in the middle of.
The 302mm will be better no doubt, bigger rotor = more leverage. simple.
The 330mm Porsche kit wont fit under 17" Titan wheels that you have on the car, but it will stop VERY well.
Titan's 'make' the T5R despite being bloody heavy and soft. They'd definately be a must have on one for me.
I am the person the Les would have mentioned. Happy to help and will talk your ear off about suspension and brakes.
markc88
Thanks Ash,
Ill take you up on that when the budget is restored!
Im with you on 17" titans and your other comment on the colour, I think its a great looking car and I like the way it drives, for me much better than the s60r that i never really enjoyed.
cheers mark

Wow . Whenever I see one in person I am amazed , I don't really like the car in Gull but in person and your pictures really grab me. Red one for me or white though....
It does make a huge difference with GOOD tyres , I have always run RE001/2s and tried the Michelin PS3s on my 17" wheels a while back and was amazed how much better it felt and quieter too so I imagine the PZeros are the beez as well.
I think you may need an 850 T5 to play track racer with the way this is going! But then , too good to race is dumb , its meant to be driven so why not track race it , have fun!

That car looks mint. Good job not messing about and just getting the respray done properly!
Also it's great to see another WA member! You guys are slowly making your way on here :)

Watch out we're like weeds we'll take over soon. It is bit harder over here though and there is not as many of us and less places for support.
Ex850R
Good chance for you to onsell products from here then?

Were you after new/old T5R seats? Get these guys to strip off the skins? Worth asking. Some over there dont want to send O/S , you have to make it easier for them , find out postage roughly and tell em , they may go from there.

Well spotted snoopy. I checked with the guy and all he has left now is the door inserts. Elwood will make a new correct covers but i thought i would check with a local trimmer first and just haven't got to it yet. No chance of me getting covers on properly.
thanks for all the help and comment gents. Its one of those projects that most people think is a waist of time and money so its great that some people get it also.
Ill put up my snag list to completion to see what ideas the group has if thats ok.
cheers mark

Some of these cars are getting harder to find now (even more so something pretty rare like a T5R) - one of the biggest problems with the turbo 850/S70/V70 cars is that when new (or not particularly old) owners were expecting 240-like durability, ignoring the fact that they'd just bought a performance car (for the time) in sedate looking sedan or wagon body which requires performance car type maintenance.
As such, we see the results of years of poor maintenance and it becomes a car that just doesnt seem as durable as previous models.
Fast forward a few years and good ones are tough to find. As a result, if one of these is what you want, you take the most suitable candidate and bring it back from there to something decent.
Our project car started is a disgusting 1998 V70T5.
Personally, I love the 240 - at a glance everyone knows it's a Volvo.
I like 850T5Rs and 850Rs (particularly wagons) - they epitomise fiercest era of the BTCC.
S70/V70 is really 'just an 850' so they fall into the same category.
After that, C30/S40/V50/Focus XR5 are a good line-in-the-sand to mark Volvo's renewed interest into that new-generation of hot hatch stuff.
Anyway, it's great to see a T5R being resurrected. Keep the pics and updates coming!

his boot is straighter than mine. I think I know how to adjust it down.
markc88
Has anyone on here kept a register of the original t5r's?
If there was only 15 (minus chops write-off) does anyone else on here have one or scrapped one?
