Hi Guys,
New to forum. I bought that manual GUL854 that was for sale in Perth a few months back and mentioned on this forum elsewhere. I didn't pay near the asking price as my intention was (is) to spend money on it to get it where it should be. I will sort out some photos over the next few days but I am a quite a way down the track of getting it to be a good car.
It was a 2 owner car before me. Sold by Norse in Perth and then owned by the second owner for 17 years until he passed away. Seems he was a bit of tinkerer with it, so it had the silver mirrors and some other stuff that some people just do. I have just had the car resprayed by a high end painter in Perth, the body was dead straight and no rust at all on the car. When I bought it it looked like there was some repair on the rear but it ended up being some DIY clear coat to try and repair some fading . It looks pretty fantastic now.
Prior to the paint it had a major service with belt and the air con rebuilt.
I have a suspension/ brake rebuild scheduled just waiting for some ipdusa parts to arrive later this month and then some minor items for the interior/securty and it will be finished.
I hadn't seen this forum before, nice to see some Volvo enthusiasm in Australia, i thought I was the only one!
Cheers Mark

Welcome! Yes , pictures please! Check out the suppliers page for great resource on parts suppliers. We have our resident suspension guru in Ash if you are keen and plenty of like minded peeps for encouragement.

Welcome aboard.
I remember seeing that car on carsales.
Glad it's found a good home.

Go to IMGUR and put photos there , when on a picture you get the options to copy code , you want BB Code for formums , copy that and just paste into the box here.

Oooooooooh luverly!
Ash will be drooling!
I don't recall how good the interior was from the carsales time but Elwood Industries do new replacement seat skins if needed.
Did you look to UK for parts at all? PFS , Partsforvolvoonline can be cheaper than IPD or FCP to get posted and don't forget Ash @DVS on here and Mark @ VP Tuning both do stuff from Sweden and Mark brings in bulk IPD stuff at times. ..

Hi Snoopy
Thanks. Prefer to buy local so will ask ash and mark.
Seats are ok'ish. Drivers side has a small hole but if I can get a replacement I will. Just had a look and seems they only do the later r seats not the original t5r. bugger.
cheers mark

Ash has used Redline for trimming , I talked to Mackic on VS or was it TB? He is back in East Europe with a trimming business too , could be a good cheap resource too , I will chase him up again. There is great quality alcantara available out there , Italian similar or better than original. Les.

I looked at this as well but refused to pay the asking price. Early in the piece the guy that was selling was not willing to negotiate. I would do the PCV sooner rather than later as it was blowing smoke out of the dip stick. Apart from that it was pretty straight.
Definitely had something screwy going on with the suspension as well.
Good to see it went to someone that will look after it. Still miss my T5R that was wrecked in 2010 by my brother. It was a yellow manual so was exactly the same spec as this one.

Hi Chops
Cheers. Pcv was done just after i bought it. John Fowler is doing the suspension for me but we havent progressed it yet past the new tyres and brakes/swaybars (from ipd). Its 1 of xx cars at the moment so i need to get rid of a few and concentrate more on getting this one finished. It has a few other issues with the power steering and the abs warning light so I'm just saving up for the push to get it all done in one go. It is a good car though. Apparently there is another in Perth that's has been restored as well or was that your old one?
Cheers Mark

Looking good Mark , are you going to Parkes at all? I can't but the blokes here would love to meet you I am sure?
You can repair the ABS unit yourself or there is a guy in Melbourne that does them. I got my last one from Midwest ABS USA , they did a good deal on exchange unit that was meant to be a bit rough looking hence cheaper but it came to me looking fine!? Great service and easy communication , quick too. I think $20+ to send old unit back , still cheaper than doing it here. Others here may have used Midwest too. Let us know who does your power steering? Could be good resource.
Les.

I think there is one more fully restored yellow one around Applecross area. However there is an ultra rare manual black sedan as well. Met the guy one day when I was down at pace bm scavenging parts for my Wagon. He got it from Melbourne originally with Mobil 1 plates and was trying to convince me it used to belong to Brocky.
