It's been a couple of weeks since an update. I haven't done a great deal but a few little jobs have been completed.
The new engine and trans mounts have made a huge difference to noise and vibration inside the cabin. It's much smoother and quieter now - as it should be.
I changed the diff oil last night. This car doesn't have a drain plug on the bottom of the diff but the bottom bolt of the diff cover also acts as a drain bolt. It drained out pretty slow and, as the last invoice said, it was pretty dirty. Nice new clean fluid in there now.
Fuel filter was changed a couple of nights ago. The one I pulled out was a Volvo branded one; perhaps reflecting it's fairly extensive dealer service history until a few years ago.
The headlights would not stay on high beam unless the switch was held on. As soon as it was released the high beams would go off. I started to play with the high beam relay and a simple remove and reinstall seems to have fixed the issue. There may be a crack in the solder internally so it might pay to take a closer look at that one.
I've replaced the anti-roll bar link rods and bushes, the left inner tie rod, control arm strut rod bushes. New bump stops in the front struts. Front shockies still seem okay.
As for the exhaust leak, it has two of them. The tailpipe as I've already mentioned is one. I'm hoping to be able to remove this and have an exhaust shop make up a new section that I can clamp on. The second leak, which I only discovered last night, is coming from the flange between the exhaust manifold and the header pipe.
I started trying to remove the old auto trans shifter but I had trouble trying to desolder the wires to the overdrive switch because there is bugger all slack in the wires. I gave up and will have to think about how to best tackle this job.
It's forecast to rain here this weekend so, since I have all the supplies for a stage 0 service I will probably start that.
Sorry for the lack of photos - I keep forgetting to take some.
