alcraig Has anybody tried using a transmission additive such as this: https://prolong.com/a_transtreat.html or this: https://lucasoil.com/products/problem-solvers-utility/lucas-transmission-fix to help smooth out the flaring and harsh shifts?
Ex850R Did you flush it well ? May need the cover thing replaced , Xemodex I believe.Depends what year too......
alcraig I ran 16 litres of Penrite FS ATF through it using the Gibbons method about a month ago.Its a 2007 Asin 55/50.Cover thing?Xemodex? Please explain.
timbo When the 05+ aw55s start flaring up they can usually be fixed for a reasonable price with a new valve body and solenoids. Eg around 2k
alcraig Before I go down that route, what do you think about using one of the additives I linked above?
timbo I don't see any of those additives being effective for your issue. I have seen some shuddering auto trans issues fixed with an additive but the valve body wear is not really something that can be solved with an additive.
alcraig Thinking about draining the sump again, and then adding back the exact amount that comes out (but as a mix of ATF and Lucas). If it doesn't improve, I'll go further down the rabbit hole.Am I doing anything risky by trying?
