Hi All,
I've been sorting through some wiring underneath my glovebox (1989 240 Wagon) and noticed there was a lot of extra wiring and antenna cables from previous owners. The original antenna cable is still there but it's not plugged into anything and it runs back towards the rear of the car even though the antenna is at the front left wing.
Everything works as it should as the antenna on the wing looks to be after market and is wired up - albeit messy and clunky. That's why I'm here:
I'd like to sort the following:
1: Remove unnecessary cables
2: Install the original antenna and relevant hardware to make this work like it did from the factory.
3: Install OEM to ISO radio harness
Basically sorting out the mess that's there to make it OEM spec
Fig.1: This unit sends a signal to the antenna to go up and down and its tapped into some of the OEM wiring (messy).
Fig.2: This is the OEM antenna which is left unplugged, I tried chasing this harness a little bit and it runs back underneath the carpet on the passenger footwell, where does this go to? Was it originally intended for the port at the rear left hand side of the car in FIg.3?
Fig.3: Is the antenna meant to be installed in this location on this model year, did my model year even come with an electric ariel?
Fig.4: This looks to be an after market setup, can anybody clarify this? Where can I get a new OEM setup and proper mounting hardware? Notice how messy the wiring is in the picture & Fig.5
Fig.5: Grommet cut and wires fed through in a rough manner, I put conduit on it but I need to make this tidier.
Fig.6: Then to top this all off I would like to get a new OEM to ISO harness for my Sony head unit. The current setup is hard wired for Sony but I want to convert it back to OEM and buy the relevant adapter harness to suit my radio.
Information and anybody with parts would be great :)
Thanks,
Marty
