Are you able to buy and store an entire car? I went that route; searching gumtree every night for a Holden Commo or a Stato and eventually found one under $2k that was running and driving.
The whole car approach gives you the option to rob other bits and pieces off it as well that you might need and you know that you'll get everything that makes the car running and driving.
