Hi guys, sorry to register just to ask an initial question but I can't find much on the net, and anything worth it's salt is from this forum so time to join!
My wife has a 2011 XC60 T5 FWD, we bought it in 2018, they're exceptional value and a lot of car for the money these days!
The thing is though, while the car drives beautifully, it has an odd qwerk when taking off from standstill, it's our first Volvo so unsure if it's normal or not but I can't imagine so. I didn't notice it when I test drove it for her back then as it was on flat roads and no need to take off really.
Basically, what it does is when you want to move off from a standstill, as the engine revs slowly build with slight throttle nothing really happens (and it's not hill assist). Until it eventually engages and takes off but it's sudden. If you use moderate throttle or light throttle and it's up hill and needs more engine load to start moving off (regardless of hill assist) it will engage so suddenly it will chirp and spin the front wheels then you're off.
The quicker you want to go the quicker it'll do it, so you can't really pull into a gap at an intersection as it will lag (in the drive engagement not boost) then light up the front wheels and engage TC. It's almost literally like dropping the clutch too quickly in a manual. So much so there's starting to get some noises now from all her first gear chirps lol..
Once driving though it changes gear smooth as silk. If I'm driving and I manually select 2nd gear from standstill, it will engage smoothly and move off nicely.
Is this likely to be a mechanical or software thing? It had a box oil change/service before we bought it going off the log book, wondering if they didn't do it right. As iirc it was Lubemobile (but still charged $2k)
Surely it's not normal? It's annoying enough (may be getting worse) I'm thinking of trading it in purely for this reason, otherwise it's a great car.
