On the bad smell front, you haven't got leaking interior heater hoses? when they start to go they seep coolant slowly into the carpet and backing on the passenger side footwell, it stinks pretty bad...
Salman
Its not that kind of a bad smell, its the smell of humans when they dont wash enough and use too much deodorant to cover up :)
I plan to remove the interior and either replace or wash everything.
Porkchop
It has a surprisingly rank odour mind you (the leaking hoses AND the humans), anyway it sounds like you've got it sorted....
Salman
Will get it sorted. Its still in the future. The plan is to remove the seats, carpets and nvh materials and wash all surfaces, steam clean the ducts, remove the door cards, oil and clean inside the doors, disassemble the seats, steam and clean the foam, wash the leather seat covers, then reassemble and oil the seats, and the recover and redye them using leatherique. The rear carpets as well as the door cards and dash lower will get the duplicolor treatment in buckskin to make them look fresh and new.
Porkchop
Sounds very thorough, I like a methodical working-practice. With the duplicolor are we talking paint finish or fabric protector/colour as I only remember the brand from its touch-up spraypaks?

Thanks for the link, I've got some front door map pockets (or whatever the hell they're called) that need re-spraying to match the interior, is Buck-skin a good match for the brown trim 240's?
Salman
I have no idea how it matches. The plan is to get a can, try it out and then respray the entire interior. I have a feeling its a more modern looking tan.

Vht vinyl paint works well with correct prep work too.

I guess that's the wise thing to do, mind you my passenger side map pocket is so broken I'd be happy to re-spray its replacement with even an approximation of the original colour just to get rid of it...

Will look out for it.

Actually I have a plan for the map pockets. I was going to reinforce them at the back with some fibreglass so they are strong enough and then cover them in mock suede or vinyl to hide they silly holes at the bottom and of course the fibreglass addition.
Porkchop
You're going to have quite a custom rig there Salman! Annoying thing for me is that certain passengers (no names no pack-drill) have belted the map pocket on the LH side so many times with their clodhoppers it's totally ruined whereas the driver side is relatively perfect, I rest my case...
Vee_Que
If they hit it. It's not needed then :p
Porkchop
True enough, I'm just a bit precious when it comes to the old girl :((

Ok., I have added some more before shots to the start of this thread. So far the front bumper has been replaced. The headlamps have been refurbished with new reflectors and the tail lamp has been replaced with a good and cleaned out secondhand part.
I have removed the cracked black vinyl on the belt line using steam and a guitar pick and about four hours of swearing and hard work.
The front doors have their cards removed and I plan to strip them and repaint them.
The seats have had their rips repaired. I now plan to remove the dye on the leather then will use leatherique to bring the leather back from the dead and then I'll redye them to match the door cards.

White is my fave color on a 240 wagon. :D

Alex ( @Vee_Que ) has dark leather seats available that may suit? See his wagon or seats thread posts.

I just finished reinstalling my front door trims. The left side has its map pocket installed the driver's side map pocket will be installed when I can find a missing screw. Anyway here is an image of how I reinforced the back of the map pocket. <a href="

Here is the finished product. (well almost finished- I just need to dremel a small piece of aluminium that is visible near the front)
