Any 850 guys gone with an external cooler for your autos ?

If so , what kit did you go with ? Easy to fit ?

Not read much yet but just read the one offered up by ipd . Seems pretty simples ......

I've checked conversion rates of Aus$ versus Euro$ & USA$ and it's cheaper to buy this through IPD

I've never been inclined to work in crack or coke money . So here's a screen shot of it in US $$

    ?

I got one off a s70 and its the simple one in front of the radiators and cut into the existing hoses from gearbox with metal connectors and clamps like any other car one added on.

Mine could do with new hoses as well , so not looking into cutting into existing hoses . So looking into a complete kit ..... but yeah , pictures as they say .....

I like the idea of the cooler not being in line up of other coolers eg radiators.

Free flowing air straight through such a small vented surface area (auto oil cooler) would be more efficient.

I'm more inclined to go with a bolt in kit that supplies new hoses.

Don't suppose one could fit a generic external cooler, with some creativity used for mounting, if budget was an issue?

Could source one off a late model falcon with a tow pack optioned (these tended to have external coolers fitted)

Though that IPD one looks pretty nice!

Yeah , not opposed to any idea really as long as it works hey , but like you say that ipd one does look the goods ?

I like the idea that it stands alone under the condsensor in free flowing air at the front of the bumper flow input & comes with a no nonsense mounting kit and hoses, simplicity is usually the most effecient way.

This arrived Thursday, not had a proper look yet but looks pretty ?

The Fossil is a happy boy, IPD auto oil cooler arrived today.

Nice little job for Friday, well made item.

Looks like a good item in the in-hand photos, I'm keen to hear how smooth the install goes.

Installed and working, took 70/80mins, fits perfectly, seriously nice bit of design work.

Had to add a washer either end of the spacer pipe increase the distance and to stop the threaded end of bolts from touching the plastic tank once tightened.

I'm liking that , looking ? . Best get mine fitted in the morning ?

Becarefull not to damage temp sensor.

Mounts to lower air con bracket each side, reusing same bolt hole with longer bolt & spacer pipe.

The fit is very accurate & central to the 850Rs middle air vent on front bumper

Undo original return input at gearbox.

Connect original return to input hose of IPD oil cooler.

22mm spanner, attach new IPD return hose to cars gearbox, be carefull not to over tighten

When finished looks like this under the battery tray, cable tie hose to intercooler alloy pipe

Was about to install an aftermarket trans cooler but this looks so good and clean

Worth the money? Is the return hose 3/8? Wouldn't mind chucking an inline filter on the return.

      First stage of mount up

Don't tighten mounting bolts till hoses are secured and cable tied so they don't rub on anything that can hole them.

Rest hoses side by side, checking they don't over lap underneath car before install to auto gearbox. Rotate join as needed to avoid damage then tighten new hose to original.
