Hi Everyone, been lurking for some time. Here is a short history / introduction for context
Ive got an P2 XC70 is a 2004 T5 auto.
I have replaced the XC70 suspension, and the usual high KM issues sorted, (Strut tops, struts, bushes ect) this got done along with brake pads and discs. and has had usual servicing with most fluids replaced.
but its sweating way too much power now. You can see quite a puddle of power from the engine after parking over night.
So its time to address things before rego in September.
Issues:
Leaking main seal - Front. May as well do cam belt and ??anything else - water pump ect?? (Any suggestions)
gearbox is lazy going into drive, as in count to 4 and then its in gear. Yes it has flared two or three times but its not a common thing. ( it did just drive over 2500km from Cooma nsw through the Pillga national park and return with out incident)
Car is losing a little water, it needs a top up of the res every couple of tanks of fuel. there are No signs of over heating, or oil mixing in the oil, and Over the last 2500km it used about 100mls.
Ive also got new drive shafts to put in while this all happens, bit that is m ore preventative.
Questions:
1) Should I stop throwing money at this thing? It a good long distance family car but.......
2) Can these jobs be completed without specialist tools, or a car Hoist
3) Who in the ACT is good with these cars? I am happy to pay someone to have a really good look and tell the the cold hard truth.
4) if the stuff Ive got isn't worth repairing, Can a XC90 V8 be substituted in the T5's location?
I OK on the tools, but have no specialist Volvo tools available. , I also have a complete spare parts car, so I have a spare everything if I need it..... But really I don't want to go to the full expense / time of a full rebuild at the moment. As this normally gets out of hand with more boost ect ect. (hey Spac).
If I could get the input from the collective hive mind as to what you'd so in a similar position, that would be great.
Thanks in advance, and sorry for the long post.
Matt
