Hey Volvo family!

I have been reading this forum for a while now, it is a mine of useful info and tips. I have just purchased my first Volvo and felt like it was time to officially join the OZ Volvo Team. I am not new to Volvo cars since I did my "conduite accompagnee" -the French equivalent of the Aussie learner license-, on my Mom's V70. Liked it so much that I looked straight away for V70's when I decided to buy a car down under. Wanted something safe, reliable and practical.

I was lucky to quickly find one car that looked perfect, located in North Sydney. Went to check it and came back home driving it. It is a 2007 V70, 2.4i, 426 mystic silver, with only 64.500km on the clock, 2 owners, a full service history and all rotors and pads changed + service done in March this year. Did not even try to negotiate with the Suede lad selling it. Drives very well, has a few small dents and scratches here and there, but I am very satisfied with the purchase, and most important: we can carry on the "conduite accompagnee" tradition with the missus!

I am planning to do the basic maintenance myself, as well as converting her -the car, not the missus- into a camper for week-ends (I know this is not a campervan forum, but I will maybe post some picture of the DIY blinds and other things we have done).

The car not being a turbo, I am not planning to do any performance upgrades, I will maybe work on improving the suspension setup to make it nicer to drive.

Next on my "mechanic" list:

Drain and fill the ATFBrake fluid change (not done during rotors replacement in March)Power steering fluid changeCoolant changeReplace spark plugs (with OEM)The washer pump seems to be clogged, I checked all nozzles but I think the problem is down below. I will have to drop the bumper to access the reservoir/pump

Next on my "cosmetic" list:

Find 17" OEM wheels (Thor being on top priority) + better tiresFix the scratches, compound and polishmaybe light tint on windows

Enough with the blabla, here she is:

Also, we are doing road trips in NSW quite ofter (being the only place we can travel..), I would be happy to join the logistics Team as well, if needed. We are based in Sydney.

Thanks for reading, hope you like the car! If you have any suggestions, comments, critics, feel free!

Welcome !

Looks good!

Happy trails and please do detail your campervan mods.

Car sounds sweet , and welcome ?

Love a good wagon, takes me back to my old 145S

Nice looking Volvo !

In relation to transmission fluid change, a good approach seems to be drain whatever you can via the transmission sump plug (just over 2 litres for my ‘98 C70) and fill with exactly the same amount, using a high quality transmission fluid. I use Penrite synthetic ATF FS.

Do this a number of times over a period of time until the fluid is clear on the dipstick. Power flushing can apparently stir up sludge and particles in the box, so is not recommended by many.

Good luck with the car !

Thank you Timothy!

Yep, this is the method I was going to do, as the fluid has never been changed I got 1 jug of Valvoline maxlife at Bunnings, I've read good comments about it. I will drain once, refill, drive the car for a week and maybe do it a second time. Don't want the trans to freak out with too much new fluid!

Just need to find a friend that is ok to lend me his driveway, as I can't do it on the street....and I was close to learn it the hard way the other day :)
