Hi Guys,
I have just purchased my first Volvo, she's a 2009 V50 D5. I have heaps to learn, so you'll have to bear with me if i ask some basic questions.
The car has a pretty comprehensive service history and has only traveled 185,000K's.
I have just taken her in for a RWC check, just basic stuff needed, but i thought i'd ask on here, if while i'm buying parts are there any worthy upgrades to think about.
I need new pads and rotors for the rear, left and right rear lower control arm outer bushes and left and right inner CV boots need replacing.
I am hoping to do basic work on the car myself, but i will look for a specialist for repairs that are a little harder, from reading a few comments, it seems Voldat are highly rated..
In regards to the parts i need, who is a good supplier? I am weary of a lot of online parts, as some don't match oem quality. My Falcon suffers from constant warped front discs, so i'd be keen on feedback about what are good discs and pads for the V50. The car will only be used for commuting and maybe towing my motorbike trailer.
In regards to the lower rear control arms, i see there are a few variants available, some change the castor angle, some are poly.. any recommendations are welcome
Are CV Boots widely available? and do i need a special tool for the rear brake piston, or is there a heath robinson method getting the piston back in the caliper?
I'm sure i'll have many more questions, but for now i need to get her RWC and registered in my name... then i can dig deeper.
Cheers
Steve
