I recently got Bilstein B12 suspension in the C30, which is B8 shocks/struts with Eibach springs.
I got a kit for the Focus XR5 knowing that the parts are compatible with the C30, and I'm curious about whether I could have had a more significant ride drop with other springs. The front has dropped slightly I think, and i'm happy with that because any lower and it would scrape all the time. But as you can see in the above photo, the rear is still super high. I think it has settled very slightly since then but not by much.
There was discussion on the C30 Aus FB group about different springs for C30/XR5/V50 due to the different vehicle weights so I wondered if the rear would sit lower using actual C30 springs rather than XR5.
I went into The Bilstein catalogue and they list a bunch of different part numbers and weights:
C30: E10-84-011-01-22. Front axle 1140kg, rear 900kg.
XR5: E10-35-016-05-22. Front axle 1050kg, rear 915kg.
V50: E10-84-006-07-22. Front axle 1140kg, rear 1010kg.
MPS: E10-55-013-03-22. Front axle 1075kg, rear 925kg.
I was surprised by how different the front weights were between C30, XR5 and V50, I expected them to be similar having the same engine and suspension.
But aside from that, the difference in the rear axle weight rating between C30 and XR5 is only 15kg, so surely that isn't enough to cause the car to sit much higher?
I am aware that even with the Eibach kit, the rear is still expected to sit higher, but this looks pretty close to stock to me and it's meant to be a 30mm drop (maybe slightly less because I had R-design suspension before).
any ideas?
