IIRC, pre-93 L blocks had bolts in place of squiters, the oft-used tell-tale is a round toothed timing belt indicates squiters were fitted. That's not guaranteed however. Only L blocks had bumps; the K block had the letter 'K' cast on the LH side (intake) of the block, and no gallery bumps on the RH side.
And the 'R' cast on the block, under where the RH engine mount bracket normally sits? It indicates 'right hand side'; it doesn't mean it's a fabled "R" block.
John Vanlandingham of JVAB Imports made a loaner kit available to the Turbobricks community for drilling non-L blocks so that squiters can be fitted to K blocks and even B21 type blocks. Volvo OE squrters are NLA of course, so the recommended replacement squiter was a BMW oil jet, p/n 11 11 1 739 907.
