egads;22383 wroteSU only wins on parts availability and expertise that is still around. The Stromberg runs better and if it is only diaphragms that need doing they win, but if you need to tune them up for more power or re-jet you can end up having to do the jets yourself.
So the Stromberg requires less maintenance and if need be the average punter can install jets when needed? Sounds like they will be more trouble free. Did you find you needed to tweak and maintain the SU's on a more regular basis?
My dad had SU's on his MG and he said they required some real knowledge to get them running right when he rebuilt his. He actually had a friend assist in tuning them afterwards and it took a good number of hours.
