P2 V70 child door locks.

So... 2001 model V70 T5.
The car insists on setting the child locks on the rear doors (so the doors can't be opened from the inside). I manually unlock them and when you close the door, the car resets them to locked.

A glitch in the matrix, or operator error?

The good news...
It might be something as simple as the child door lock selector on the rear door jamb

(orange or black plastic selector depending on model year)

After a while they can move - and look like they are in the open position, but aren't on the inside.

It may also be something more involved as one of the link clips coming loose

Item 1a is often the culprit.
Requires door panel to be removed.

The bad news...

There was a software update for earlier cars that addressed issues with the cars fitted with remote child locks.
Sorry - cant place my hands on the software P/N.
Requires a trip to the dealer.

Even worse, the door latch is knackered.
Item 1 will have to be replaced.

I'm going with electrical/programming.
The "switch" moves between the two marks correctly. You set it to 'unlocked', then close the door and half a second later you here the solenoids move it to the locked position. Open the door, and it's still in the locked position.

There's a switch on the drivers door - something like a picture of a baby in a key. I've fiddled with it, but it doesn't seem to do anything.

Any chance this can be disabled by a Vida/dice combo? Without having to get software parts?

I think the switch on the drivers door is for the windows.
If you press that, then it shuts off power to the rear window relay
(rear window switch is not illuminated and won't operaate the window)

If you can get VIDA connected, then you can see if there are any faults with the modules or relays.
That's probably the most efficient way to work out WTF is going on.
Especially if you have a short to any of the modules (CEM, DDM REM) or relays.

BTW - Do you have the switch on the centre console for the rear child locks?

On the R, it's a software download to delete the switch functionality.

Just reinstalling windows and vida fresh after i dug up an adapter that does have escaping electricity.
